Democracy@India

World has realized India as a great power, be it tech or economy. Tata buying corus, land-rover & jaguar on one hand, while on the other hand introducing the world's cheapest-yet-fairly-practical car. But, sadly enough, short-sighted citizens, who also happen to lead us keep themselves satisfied with small-time popularity & poll-stunts. Situation like these( http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Delhi/People_inaugurate_Gurgaon_flyover/articleshow/2700236.cms ) are encouraging, but at the same time can get out of hands. I fail to understand the reason for delay. A smart politician would have been eager to do the service at the earliest. But since, the ribbon-cutting ceremony has already been conducted by the janata, there was an obvious result... no neta would come forward now. Its could humiliate him. Instead, it seems better that some top-cop comes and does the honour as soon as possible. Why not invite Kiran Bedi herself, since she has done a lot of good work, which cannot be paid back by the govt in any case. Whatever be the case, its heartening to see media making a mostly-positive effect. Keep up the good work TOI.

  1. Gr8 thought.. its a good thought that we should call those who had done some good work for the country and who are related to the usage of public property... that is public... with so much of social workers around we should invite them or local achievers to inaugrate public property.. wat say??
